SPECIAL PROJECTS:
First held in March 2007, CAC+US aims to create a platform for the various subclubs under CAC to showcase their skills and talents in the different arts genres, at the same time allowing them to interact and exchange cultural experiences with each other. We also hope to increase cultural awareness among youths not only within the NUS community, but also amongst the general public.
CAC+US ’07 production was successfully held at NUS University Cultural Centre Theatre (UCC) consecutively two nights, drawing a 400-strong crowd! Presented in the style of a musical, the various sub-clubs’ performances were incorporated into a story plot, marking a fresh and successful beginning for the first-ever production by CAC.
This year, the emphasis of CAC+US 2011 is to bring out the best in our 9 sub-clubs through a showcase that promises to take you all on an unforgettable cultural roller-coaster ride!
Cultural Week
Beginning from 2010, we intend to begin a new initiative in the form of a public event, called Cultural Week, featuring arts-related programs, made accessible to the main body in NUS. The general idea is to allow our eight sub-clubs, namely Guitar Club, Voices, Resonance, Social and Ballroom Dance, Lindy Hop, Jazzttitude, D’Hoppers and Angklung Ensemble a platform –literally- to showcase their talents and expertise in performing arts. We would also like to take this opportunity to establish inter-club cooperation and camaraderie as we will extend invitation to various other performing clubs or cultural groups and have them perform as well. This event is opened to public and no tickets will be sold and all performers are encouraged to perform pro bono, hoping to bring arts and culture to the students free-of-charge.
In addition to this outdoor-concert-like event, we will be holding a bazaar that sells a range of goods, not without an emphasis on cultural items.
One of the BIGGEST non-faculty camps in NUS, CAC Social Camp has always been well recieved. Enjoy a series of fun and games, while meeting new friends from various faculties!
